Hi, I'm Rena Ikenishi! I am 17 years old and this year I will be competing in the senior level. My friends and I from the Dix Hill Ice Rink are preparing for the Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer event, which will be held at the Rinx in Hauppauge, NY on June 9th at 6:30 PM. This event will help raise money for the Scott Hamilton CARES foundation which is a non-profit created by Olympic champion, Scott Hamilton that helps fund cancer research. This amazing foundation has helped fund advanced technology and innovative research that treats the cancer while sparing the patient. Hearing about my own grandfather's succesful fight with cancer has given me the passion to help others also fight and survive their own battle with cancer. My goal is to raise over $1500, any amount counts. Now come join us at the Rinx in Happaugue on June 9th to help fund for an amazing cause. (There will be tons of food and amazing performances from many skaters!)
Thank you so much!

The Skating Club of New York, the Rinx, and Ward Melville's French Honor Society are excited to join together in the fight against cancer by supporting the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation's Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Program. This amazing foundation is dedicated to changing the future of cancer by funding research that will treat cancer while sparing the patient. The Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Program creates a great opportunity for communities to come together on ice and celebrate life while raising money to fund cancer research, education and support.
This event has been organized by host ambassador Jessica Guo, who was inspired by her grandmother's successful but arduous fight against transitional cell cancer. She is a junior at Ward Melville High School and represents the SCNY at the senior level. This fundraiser seeks to make a difference in fighting against cancer.
We invite everyone to join us for a exhibition featuring national competitors and local skaters followed by a Frozen 5K and public skate. Enjoy the show, challenge yourself to skate a 5K on ice, and skate with friends and family while raising money for a worthwhile cause. Regardless of whether you are a skater or not, this is an exciting way to spend your Saturday night!
