On April 20, 2017, Edie Perkins (an avid cyclist and elite runner) was out on her standard morning training ride when she was involved in a traffic collision. Melissa, the driver, was making a left hand turn as Edie was going straight through the intersection. As a result of the collision, Edie is now paralyzed from the waist down, but this has not stopped her from doing what she loves. She has taken up handcycling and has completed her first half marathon since the collision last year! Recently, Edie and Melissa re-connected for the first time since the collision and have decided to "Finish The Run" together on April 29th! They have joined forces to bring assistance to those affected by traffic collisions and the traumatic injury resulting from them. For more information on the "Finish The Ride" and "Finish The Run" charity event or to register, visit www.FinishTheRide.org. For more information on Streets Are For Everyone, visit www.StreetsAreForEveryone.org At the request of Edie, proceeds from this fund will go directly to the program, SAFE Support and help provide financial and other assistance to those victims and families affected by traffic collisions and traumatic injury.
