I am at it again and have decided to run the Chicago Marathon on October 7, 2018 to fundraise for Every Mother Counts, a non-profit organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother. Every Mother Counts works to improve maternal health around the world.
This will be my third marathon running in support of Every Mother Counts …. and it’s personal. I will be running in memory of my mom, Judy Leonard, who passed away 25 years ago to the day. I’ll be running maybe to show myself how far I have come from that young girl, maybe I’ll run to show Jake and Luci how strong their mom is, maybe run for my health or maybe run simply because I can. Whatever drives me that day to push my strength & determination, I know my mom will be with me. A few have teased me offering other ways I could celebrate my mom. Yes, there are so many ways, but I cannot think of a better way to honor my mom than raising awareness and funds for a charity that helps mothers and babies start their journey into motherhood with resources, education and support.

EVERY MOTHER COUNTS IS RUNNING THE 2018 CHICAGO MARATHON TO RAISE AWARENSS AND FUNDS TO SUPPORT MATERNAL HEALTH AROUND THE WORLD. Hundreds of thousands of women die during pregnancy and childbirth each year. That's 800 women every day. The good news is that up to 98% of these deaths can be prevented. Every Mother Counts is a non-profit organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother. We run because often distance is the biggest barrier to a woman and her family getting the care they need. Simply put, we want to run so that others don't have to...And now, we're hoping you will lend your support no matter how big or small.
