I was diagnosed with Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis (ANMDARE) in 2010, after over a year of misdiagnoses, solely because someone else was brave enough to share her story. After my recovery, I decided to give back by sharing my story so that others may be educated about autoimmune encephalitis.
Each year, my family and I travel to Durham, NC for the Florence Forth Race to run a 5k in honor of Florence McDow, connect with other survivors, and raise awareness for autoimmune encephalitis. Your donations go to the AE Alliance, which is a non-profit organization that educates physicians, connects patients with doctors, and funds research and collaboration for autoimmune encephalitis. Please consider making a donation to my team so that no one else has to go undiagnosed.
