Ever since I lost all of my vision a few years ago, I had relinquished all dreams of competitive athletic achievement. I had never heard of an athlete with absolutely no vision, let alone one who was able to compete right alongside fully sighted athletes. Earlier this year, I met a stranger in a supermarket checkout line who told me about a running group for the blind and other people with disabilities. On a whim, I decided to check it out and I’ve never looked back.
Achilles International is an organization devoted to bringing athletics to people with disabilities. They mainly focus on running, but the New York chapter has a Triathlon team which I became a member of as well.
By donating even a few dollars, you’ll be helping the organization fund race entries, and otherwise keep this great organization going!
Thank you for your contribution, no matter how small, it makes a huge difference!
