For almost 100 years, the American Red Cross of the Augusta Area has been a hero for thousands of people in our community, lending aid during times of disaster, seeing to the welfare of military families, and providing citizens with lifesaving CPR and first aid skills. The Heroes campaign is a great way for people in the community to support our local Red Cross of Augusta. All the profits go directly into our town. This year, the Augusta Chapter Office has a goal to raise $50,000 during the campaign and you can help by donating! Not all Heroes wear capes but you can be one today. The American Red Cross 2017 Heroes for Relief Campaign will run from March 7 through March 31, 2017. $1,000 can cover the cost of . . . •200 blankets for people affected by a disaster. •400 comfort kits containing hygiene items for a disaster client. •Clothing for nine children who lost their clothes in a house fire. •Meals and lodging for five days for a family of three displaced from their home. •A babysitting skills class for 14 youth. •Training 11 individuals to learn how to help someone in a cardiac or breathing emergency.
