Like many others that are affected my addiction, the Hobbs family was shook to the core by heroin, not one but twice. Jeremy and Jerry Hobbs we’re brothers, best friends and addicts. Jeremy was a vibrant, kindhearted and talented soul who loved wrestling and playing his guitar. Jerry was a jack of all trades who loved the family farm and anything with wheels. Their addiction, although plagued with the same tragic ending, were very different stories. The one thing that was the same, is that the lack of addiction services in the area left few options for them and their family. Jeremy left us in August of 2011 and Jerry soon after in September of 2017. Each year the Hobbs family gathers for the Attack Addiction 5k and sponsors a team in memory of our boys. This year, along with our team, we would like to raise funds to support the programs and services that Attack Addiction promotes to help those in need in Delaware. $2,500 will provide a spot in a transition home for someone in recovery. What that truly mean is that one person, one addict, has a safe, supportive and drug free environment to maintain their sobriety and continue their path to recovery for one year. One year sober is an amazing accomplishment for anyone struggling with addiction and as a family who has lost two irresplaceable souls to that terrible pain, we hope to be able to sponsor and support that sobriety for someone lucky enough to get the help they need and deserve.
Team Hobbs will also be sponsoring Attack Addiction in the Attack Addiction Run for Recovery for our 5th year on May 4, 2019.
