The SleepOut is a night spent outside to raise awareness of the plight of homeless youth. With this event I will join a community of brave souls who will experience one night on the cold ground in solidarity with homeless / at-risk youth, and I am fundraising for services that will transform their lives.
Please consider a contribution to my team page and support this important cause.
Currently, 1 in 10 young adults, ages 18 to 25, and 1 in 30 adolescents ages 13 to 17, endures some form of homelessness in America. Reasons range from abuse and neglect, to mental illness, substance abuse, strained relationships, gender or sexual identity, and poverty. They are at risk of being abused or exploited and suffer many other consequences.
On average, Waypoint provides assistance to, and works to stabilize the lives of over 1,500 runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth each year, in Manchester, Concord, Littleton, and the Seacoast. Waypoint provides survival aid, fulfilling basic needs such as food and clothing, and connects youth with shelter and medical care. As well, Waypoint provides mental health and substance abuse counseling, and helps youth with educational advocacy, job search, and housing.
