It's that time of year again to rally support around Team Moar in our annual effort to raise proceeds to support oncology services at North Shore Medical Center and the Massachusetts General/North Shore Cancer Center. In the past, WALK contributions have supported renovations, clinical trials, wellness services such as massage and acupuncture to help alleviate pain and nausea, as well as supportive care programs for patients and their families. Our family has lost many to this horrible disease, my uncles Leo Moar and Bill Moar, and my mom, Tema Moar and we participate as a top fundraising team every year in their memory.
July 13th marks the 5th year of losing my mom. 5 years is a long time and yet I still feel that my mom will pick up the phone and call me or send me her 10th text message of the day. Tema was simply the best - the most amazing, caring, loving, devoted, and fun mother, wife, grandmother, cousin, and friend that we lost at the young age of 60 after a beyond courageous battle of melanoma. My daughter, Kensington, was luckily enough to be held as a baby by mom who we called Savta (grandmother - hip name :) ) and feel her sweet and loving presence. Unfortunately, Teagan and Declan came along a little too late and sadly didnt get that chance. I know she is beyond proud of her 3 grandchildren and happily watching over them and all of us. I hope to be the same kind of incredible mom to my children as she was to me. My Dad, Chris, and I miss her terribly, but know that she is always with us.
We are committed to continuing to participate in raising money each year for the NSMC cancer center in my mom's honor to help to make a difference in the lives of so many people battling this terrible disease.
Please consider donating to this cause and/or joining our team, Team Moar.
