We would like to share our personal journey about our son P.J. and how he experienced a life changing week at summer camp when he attended Camp CARE . He went to camp feeling defeated from his disease, friends were few and far between because he felt sick and also isolated . When he returned from summer camp he was a new person because he met so many kids his age and had so many new friends that understood what he was going through. He did not feel different but instead he felt he belonged. There is no dollar value that you can put on such a life changing experience. So when he returned from camp he felt so strongly that all children with cancer must attend this camp. But the camp had a waiting list so he started a walkathon to raise money to build a new cabin so that more children could attend camp. That cabin is now called P.J.'s place and camp is sending over 150 children to camp each summer. However, Camp CARE is a grassroots organization and our 5k event is our largest fundraiser and helps send these children to camp at a cost of over $500.00 each. So please help us keep P.J.'s dream alive to send more children to summer camp.
