Team Run Baby Run: Team Run Baby Run took its first steps to benefit The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the November 4th, 2011 NYC Marathon and to date has raised $128,000 collectively in the last 7 years. The team was founded by Team Captain, Michelle Williams in memory of her late brother David Christopher who was abducted at the age of 10 on October 29, 1983, just 8 months before the conception of NCMEC.
NCMEC’s Work: On June 13, 1984, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children was opened by President Ronald Reagan. The National 24-hour toll-free Missing Children’s Hotline 1-800-THE-LOST opened as well. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® believes every child deserves a safe childhood. For 30 years we have been at the forefront of the fight to keep children safer from abduction and sexual exploitation. They provide the resources needed to help protect children and prevent these devastating crimes committed against children.
Use of Funds: 93% of Funds raised will support programs and services. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is exempt from federal taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and has received a ruling that it is a publicly supported organization as described in sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the IRS Code. NCMEC donations are tax-deductible.
