Raising money for UCP is a cause that is very near and dear to our hearts. Our younger brother was born prematurely in 1993 and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy shortly there after. We grew up our entire lives watching our parents do everything in their power to help our brother get everything he needed to have the best life he could. They wanted him to never be without. There were endless doctor’s appointments, therapy appointments, fights with the insurance company, difficult surgeries but our family persevered, always stayed close and always rallied around our incredibly special guy. He was the center of our world. He was one in a million. Not only was he handsome, incredibly charming in his way, and so funny but he had the greatest laugh that made you want to laugh harder and a smile that could light up a room. In November of 2011, our family tragically lost our dear David when he unexpectedly passed away from emergency surgery at the age of 18. The world definitely dimmed quite considerably that day and a hole was formed in our hearts that can never be filled. 18 years with our special guy will never be enough but we are grateful for every second we got with him. He taught us so much about love, life, compassion, empathy, and accepting and celebrating differences. We can never thank him enough for these life lessons which helped shape us into the people we are and for our drive to want to make a difference in the world. So our beloved David, we honor you by participating in UCP of Greater Cleveland’s Race to Empower on Sunday, May 6th. So please support Team DJB by making a donation in honor of our so missed brother/brother-in-law/Uncle. Your donations will support an amazing organization that helps to ensure that all individuals living with cerebral palsy can live their best lives.
