HUG Project Thailand founder, Boom Mosby, was awarded the title of “2017 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Hero” by the US State Department for her work in battling child sexual exploitation and child sex trafficking in her native country. But she is quick to point out that the true heroes are the child victims who are brave enough to tell their stories.
In order to move beyond their trauma, these children rely on another set of heroes: HUG Project case managers, social workers, and counseling staff. These are the individuals who literally hold the hands of child victims throughout the legal and recovery process. They are Thai nationals who are dedicated to providing consistency and love to children who have been unspeakably harmed. Our goal for the Freecember/TeamHUG challenge is to raise support for these Thai workers. 100% of the money raised will go directly to HUG Thai staff in social work, case management, and counseling. A little help goes a long way. For example, $5 provides a stuffed bear, $38 provides a one-hour counseling session for a child victim of sexual trauma. $425 provides advocacy all the way through the justice system.
By donating to and sharing this campaign, you are also being a true hero. “I would like to thank all of you who helped me all the time… Thank you for being here all the time… I’ll go ahead confidently, I’m thankful.” - a HUG Project client.
