Team Jeep® has committed to raise funds for the United Way’s “Bib to Backpack” campaign for early childhood development. Why Early Childhood Development? 90% of a child’s brain is developed by age 3, so United Way supports learning before a child enters a traditional classroom. These efforts save costs for the community as a whole; $1 spent on early childhood development can reduce future remediation costs by $13-$17. What is United Way Doing to Help? The Bib to Backpack campaign focuses on ensuring children are prepared for kindergarten. Last year in Southeastern Michigan, Early Learning Centers served 12,000 parents and caregivers. Nearly 70% of children at high risk for developmental delay improved their test scores with help from United Way’s programs and partners.
