Thanks again to all of you who have generously supported my Boston Marathon fundraising for the Boys and Girls Club and the Ron Burton Training Village.
My training is going very well. 160 miles run since January 1st. My goal is to run 450 miles in 65 runs in the 15 weeks leading up to the marathon.
I participated in the Miami 1/2 Marathon on 1/28 and finished in 2:26 in 80 degree temperatures!!
This past weekend (SA 2/10), I completed a 16.4 mile training run on the marathon course with the Team Framingham runners I am helping to mentor.
On Saturday 2/24 I will be participating in a 17 mile training run on the course with 600 or 700 other runners going from Natick (mile 9) to the finish line.
Thanks again for your support!! Mike
I am so excited to be joining my John Hancock colleagues in running my 13th Boston Marathon and 23rd marathon overall.
I will be raising funds for the Boys and Girls Club of Boston and the Ron Burton Training Village. There is information on each of these two great charities below. Each dollar donated is evenly split between the two charities.
I will be periodically posting updates on my training and fundraising.
I attended the John Hancock training run on Saturday November 4th and ran 10.8 miles with the team on Saturday December 16th.
My official 15 week training program starts on January 1st. My plan is to run 450 miles over 65 runs in the 15 week period leading up to the Boston Marathon on April 16th.
Please donate today!!!
Team John Hancock 2018
Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) and Ron Burton Training Village (RBTV) are thrilled to partner with our inspired 2018 Boston Marathon team of John Hancock employees to raise funds to provide hope and opportunity for youth in the greater Boston area. To streamline our donation process this year, all gifts will be directed to Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) and then divided equally between BGCB and RBTV.
Boys & Girls Club of Boston (BGCB)
Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) provides nearly 16,000 young people in our community with a safe place to go after school where caring adult role models deliver fun and enriching programs. Activities are strategically developed to help youth succeed academically, live healthy lifestyles, build character and practice good citizenship. While BGCB invests an average of $2,800 per member, critical financial support from our partners helps keeps the cost of membership affordable for the children we serve, many of whom come from low-income families and single-parent households. At only $25 per school year for children ages 6-12 and just $5 for teens, members get the strong start they need for a great future.

Ron Burton Training Village (RBTV)
The mission of the Ron Burton Training Village is to enrich the lives of challenged youth in the areas of dynamic character and leadership development, physical fitness, social and educational advancement, and spiritual growth. Over the past thirty years, the Ron Burton Training Village has served more than 4,000 young men and women in their spiritual, physical and educational growth. The year-round development of each child, further underscored by the 5-week summer experience, focuses on four key areas: academic excellence, character and leadership development, sports and fitness, and spiritual growth. Many applicants come from difficult, and troubled environments, they face challenges that may impact their decision-making skills and ability to successfully achieve their goals.
