"One run can change your day. Many runs can change your life."
Running has literally changed and saved my life. Being born with disabilities including being born without hearing in my right ear and a cleft palate which affects my speech lead to me lacking self-confidence from a young age. Unfortunately this lack of self-confidence continued to grow as I spent many summers growing up having and recovering from surgeries which lead to me gaining a lot of weight. About four years ago I hit rock bottom. I weighed close to 250 pounds, was morbidly obese, and lacked any form of self-confidence.
It was at that time I started running to try and lose weight. When I first started running I couldn't run a mile. However, as time passed I found myself being able to run further and becoming more self-confident. Now, nearly 4 years later running has helped me lose and keep off 110 pounds, and in the process has helped me find courage, confidence, and strength within myself that I never knew was there. The 2018 Boston Marathon will by my first Boston Marathon and fourth marathon overall. My goal is to eventually run a marathon in every state in addition to London, Berlin, and Tokyo.
Running has changed and saved my life and now I'm thankful and honored that Team Tufts is providing me with the opportunity to run on their team to help change and save the lives of others. The funds raised by my teammates and myself will help ensure that Tufts Medical Center remains a leader in the medical field and will allow them to continue fulfilling their mission of providing compassionate care, conducting innovative life-changing research, and educating future physicians and scientists - all in pursuit of their main objective of putting patients' needs first.
Thank you all for your generous donations. Your support means the world to me, and I couldn't be doing this without you!!!
