Tenacity’s mission is to enable post-secondary success by improving the scholastic, character and physical development of urban youth. Through a combination of academic enrichment, mentoring, family engagement, and tennis/fitness coaching, Tenacity’s Pathway to Post-Secondary Success improves educational outcomes for students, increases graduation rates, and helps transform the lives of the youth we serve.
I have seen this impact firsthand. In 2013-2014, I was an AmeriCorps Fellow for Tenacity at the Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School in Dorchester. I am still in touch with my students from that year; it has been amazing to see their growth from energetic 13 year olds to mature high school seniors contemplating college applications. Four years later, I have returned to Tenacity in the role of Family Engagement Coordinator at the McCormack Middle School in Dorchester. I am so excited to have the opportunity to work closely with my students, build relationships with them that extend beyond the academic classroom, and play a role in their educational success.
I am thrilled to run the 2018 Boston Marathon for my students. In addition to raising money for Tenacity's program, I am excited to share this experience with my students and to model what they already strive to do each day - set personal goals, create action plans for these goals, and work hard to attain success. My students are amazing, and I am honored to run on their behalf.
I appreciate any amount you are able to contribute. Funds raised through the B.A.A. Boston Marathon Official Charity Program directly support the free programs Tenacity, Inc. offers City of Boston youth.
