Newport-Mesa Spirit Run, Inc. (NMSRI) is a 501(c)(3) non profit founded in 2010 to present Spirit Run, an adult and youth road racing and expo event. Spirit Run's net proceeds benefit eduation and athletics in local schools.
NMSRI is dedicated to promoting youth fitness. As we all know, poor eating, inactivity, and obesity is on the rise in our children. To help stop this trend, in 2011, NMSRI founded its Youth Running Training and Scholarship Program. With the help of members of the University of California - Irvine Cross Country and Track Team, NMSRI conducts free running training at elementary schools to prepare students for Spirit Run.
Also, to ensure every child has a chance to participate in the training and Spirit Run, NMSRI makes scholarships for entry fees and free bus transportation available to underprivilged NMUSD students.
For 2019, NMSRI is planning to conduct training at Victoria and Pomona elementary schools in Costa Mesa. It will also continue to make scholarships for entry fees available to NMUSD students who cannot afford them, and provide free bus transportation.
Your tax deductible contribution can help NMSRI fund the scholarships, bus transportation, and other program costs. Please donate now to help underprivileged children get fit through running, to participate in Spirit Run.
