When you were in school, what do you remember learning about the continent of Africa? If your answer is, “very little,” then you will understand the significance of our mission. Similarly, if you find that you are surprised by the lack of knowledge on Africa among your peers then you will appreciate the need to educate and advocate for Africa.
The Teach Africa Program, is The Africa Society’s flagship program and our response to the demands of an increasingly globalized world, and specifically addresses the lack of Africa education in the curricula of schools throughout the United States. This innovative and multidimensional program is designed to increase Africa education by targeting school administrators, teachers, and students-who are the leaders of tomorrow.
This is what some of our students and teachers are saying;
“I will remember how much Africa contributes and how much we share” Cornerstone Academy, Houston, Texas
“I love how I get to see the positives of Africa. I pray that this program continues to grow.” Siatech High School, Los Angeles, California;
“It was a pleasure to attend the amazing conference. I loved learning so much and being in the presence of such distinguished speakers. I am using a lot of the information I got in my classes today.” Woodlands High School teacher, Atlanta, Georgia;
"I loved the wide range of professionals represented, and that each addressed a different aspect of Africa." Taylor Allderdice High School student, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
