After the hurricane disasters, I couldn't stop thinking about how I could help. After searching the internet I found this wonderful charity, Direct Relief and decided to put together this concert event. You might be wondering why I decided to do this kind of fundraising now when the hurricanes happened a while ago. It comes as no suprise that people effected by these disasters need help for months to come. So on November 15th at 7:30 PM in Grant Recital Hall, UMKC, my students and I gave through singing. This concert served as our campaign to raise funds for Direct Relief and their continued support of those effected by the recent hurricanes.
I truly believe that together we can change the world for the better moment by moment. We can feel the power that helping one another can give us, and maybe, in the wake of a disaster, through our songs or our music, we can heal the heart, help the soul and make the world a better place.
A very special thank you to all my students and to Richard Williams for participating in this concert. I am so fortunate to be surrounded by such talent and kindness.
