Our work starts and finishes with students—they are our true north.
For our first 20 years, we served students and families through our Discovery Camp program focused on building relationships between students of different racial, ethnic and gender identities. While we continue to serve students, our work has expanded organically to include teachers, administrators, and districts. We center youth voices as we forge further into the inner-workings of school districts. We help to build capacity to understand why equity is vital to students’ abilities to learn and succeed in school. We provide anti-racism education. We work in community to highlight the opportunity gap crisis, sharing research and resources. We use strategies that elevate the voices of people most impacted by oppression to build momentum for action and systems change. We work with decision makers to frame the debate around educational equity and offer solutions that maintain accountability to students and families.
Most importantly, we listen to youth who tell us stories of the racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc. that they experience in school. We believe them, and we elevate their vision for what an equitable school looks like.
That's a lot about what we do... What can YOU do? Please support our racial equity efforts throughout the region!
