27 years ago I ran my first marathon in NYC. On November 4th, I am excited to be returning to run the 2018 NYC Marathon as part of Team GDMF!
Glen Doherty, Massachusetts native and former Navy SEAL, was one of the four Americans killed in a terror attack in Benghazi, Libya on September 12, 2012. I did not have the pleasure of knowing Glen, but we share mutual friends, including Kristin & Tom Donahue, who helped found The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation to honor his life, service, and beliefs.
The Foundation's mission is to ease the transition from military life and work to that of a civilian by helping fund educational costs for Special Operation individuals from all branches and their children. To date, 41 scholarships have been awared, made possible by fundraising efforts such as the NYC Marathon.
Team GDMF NYC needs your support to keep up with the increasing demand for scholarships. This spring the Foundation received 23 scholarship applications - the largest pool of candidates in its 5 years of operation.
Please consider a making a donation to my NYC Marathon to help The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation continue to make a difference in the lives of our returning Special Operations professionals.
P.S. I encourage you to view the video and to visit http://www.glendohertyfoundation.org to learn more about Glen and the amazing work The Foundation is doing.
