The Vegetable Connection's mission is to create a healthier community through food education, increased access to nutritious food, and supporting local farms.
In 2018, Feeding the Families program will assist 20 low-income families access locally grown, organic vegetables from one of our five Community Supporting Agriculture partner farms for the entire growing season. We ask participants to contribute toward their share, increasing the personal investment in eating healthier and a sense of empowerment.
We also provide food education for our families and the community through tastings of recently harvested vegetables and workshops on growing, preparing and preserving food.
Why is this program important in making a difference in the community?
"I truly appreciate the supply of organically grown, healthy food in a great rainbow of varieties and colors. Experimenting with new tastes and a variety of vegetables keeps my family loving food and staying healthy all summer long. We could never afford to eat this healthy without the Vegetable Connection." - testimonial from a family
