Please help me raise $1,000 in the next 3 weeks to fund the dorm set-up for 1 incoming Wily scholar!
My "Why Wily":
3 years ago, I joined the Board of the Wily Network because I wanted to continue my involvement with education in the greater Boston area by supporting students who have aged out of the foster care system and students with similar backgrounds.
As many of you know, I served two years with City Year Boston, an AmeriCorps program aiming to address the high school dropout crisis by providing attendance, coursework, and social-emotional coaching to students. My time serving in a 7th-grade classroom in Dorchester, Massachusetts, illuminated the vast differences in resources and support that low-income students and communities receive compared to those in areas of greater wealth, as well as the different needs of students in these circumstances. Wily has allowed me to continue working to break down barriers that these students face when trying to succeed in our education system.
Please join me in fighting for social justice and this worthwhile cause!

Help us raise $12,500 in 3 weeks to fund a scholar for a full year of Wily support!
To date, we have been fortunate to secure funding for all of the students referred to the Wily Network by our partner institutions, but we are nearing our financial capacity and referrals are increasing faster than we expected. When colleges and universities refer their students to Wily, we want to say, Yes! Will you help us make that possible?
We have at least 1 potential Scholar who will be graduating high school this June, who we would love to be able to welcome into the Wily Network for their Freshman year at a local Boston college starting in August 2018. But, we need your help to raise $12,500 so we can provide the services necessary to fund this Scholar for their first year.
To continue to establish the Wily Network on college campuses to improve outcomes for youth who, having persevered through such life challenges as aging out of foster care, homelessness, or a lack of family support, are navigating their post-secondary careers independently.
• To ensure our Scholars have the tools and networks necessary to thrive in four-year residential colleges.
• To empower our Scholars to transition successfully into post-college life and become vibrant members of their communities.
The Wily Network provides a critical safety net and programming specically designed to help Scholars achieve personal and nancial well-being.
Our program is made up of 3 core components:
2. Financial Assistance and Education
3. Community Building and Networking
Why We Need YOU!
In 2017, we expanded in all directions—doubling the number of Scholars we serve, increasing the number of higher education institutions with which we partner, and expanding our staff and volunteer ranks! It has been an incredible year, but there are still more Scholars being referred to us all the time.
With the Wily Network, our Scholars are transitioning from surviving to thriving. They are benefitting so much from the program that they have started referring new Scholars to us, which has been a heart-warming and reaffirming sign for our organization.
Is Wily at your Alma Mater Yet?
The Wily Network currently supports students at seven colleges: Boston College, Boston University, Bridgewater State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Middlebury College, Northeastern University, and UMass Dartmouth.
