In 2007, just 4 short months after their beautiful daughter was born, Trisha and Jeff Danze heard the words that no parent can ever imagine...Your daughter has cancer. It was a brain tumor and Thea needed immediate surgery. She started chemotherapy soon after. Thea is now 10, but has had numerous side effects and suffered disabilities that she will have to live with, for the rest of her life, due to the very treatments that are needed to save her life. Unfortunately, Thea is not alone. Traditional chemotherapies, surgeries and radiation are toxic to these little people, who have their whole lives ahead of them.
In 2014, the Danze's established Thea's Star of Hope to address this very problem. Thea's Star of Hope strives to bring hope to all children with brain tumors, by funding critical research for more effective, less toxic treatments for kids with brain tumors. TSOH also supports criticla family support programs through partnerships with other organizations that help kids with brain tumors. Collaboration, is the key to making a difference. And TSOH HAS made a difference. Since it's inception, TSOH has raised almost $250,000 to support research and support services. They have helped to fund 3 critical research projects that help scientists and doctors better understand what makes these tumors grow. Once that happens, new treatments will be discovered to target those problems in the tumor, itself. This is what you may have heard as "precicsion medicine."
The end of 2017 is quickly approaching, and we hope that you will choose to support Thea's Star of Hope for your year end giving. We are close to a big milestone, of raising $100,000 this year, but we can't do it without your help. Every donation counts and goes directly to the ground breaking research that is so desperately needed for kids with brain tumors.
