I’d like to paint a picture in your mind. It’s a picture of a delightful little girl. She’s about 4. She’s wearing her pajamas. She’s singing a silly little song and dancing around. She’s holding her mother’s hand and walking down a hallway. You can picture it, right?
The part you probably don’t picture is that they are walking down the hallway of the shelter where they came to seek safety. They needed shelter from someone who was trying to hurt this cheerful little girl and her brave mother. Fortunately, they were able to find help at the Southern Indiana Campus of The Center for Women and Families.
As the only provider of domestic violence and sexual assault support services in the area, The Center offers a vital source of hope and healing for our clients and their children who have been victimized by violence. All of the services provided by The Center are free and confidential to all people and their children who have been affected by intimate partner violence or sexual assault. Our advocates provide a listening ear, offer support and safety planning, and suggest next steps to survivors.
