Mildred sat with her mama in the classroom. It was conferences and her teachers were sharing what Mildred had been doing this year at school. As the teachers talked, Mildred saw her mama’s smile beam brighter with each word. Mildred showed her mama some of her writing from class and read her part of a story. After she finished, her mama explained her smile, “I did not think my daughter would be able to go to school, because I didn’t get the chance. Now she is reading! I give thanks to God.”
For many children in Zambia, especially those in rural areas, education is not a reality. And it’s been that way in their families for generations. Through The Esther School, that cycle is being broken. Children receive an opportunity to attend school. God is using The Esther School to reach His children through an education.
And it doesn’t stop there.
Children are encouraged in who they are and learning what they can do. They are going strong and healthy through school meals. And most importantly, they are hearing, seeing, and breathing the Gospel daily from their teachers and lessons. Through The Esther School, God is reaching the WHOLE child. How cool is that?
You can help us impact the lives of these children, their families, and the community. For example:
-$10 can help equip a classroom with learning activities and school supplies
-$25 can increase opportunities for hygiene such as soap, water bottles, and improved water sources
-$50 can supply staff and teachers (both Zambian and North American) with opportunities for spiritual and professional development
-$75 can provide maintenance for our much needed school vehicles
-$100 can fill a shelf with storybooks and textbooks
-$250 supports employment of an Esther School parent
The Esther School is a school in Nyangwena, Zambia. Opened in the fall of 2012, the school equips orphaned and under-resourced children to serve God, their families, and their communities to their fullest potential. We believe that children have a purpose—not just someday—but right here, right now. They are capable of amazing ingenuity and are bursting with potential. The Esther School seeks to nurture the whole child, unlocking the full potential of all of our students by addressing their educational, emotional, and spiritual needs.
