This year, on September 30, I will be running the half marathon race of the Maine Marathon, along with my good friends Greg McSweeney and Aidan Donahue, to help raise money for the Marr Fund Team. The Marr Fund supports Alzheimer's research at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Alzheimer's has deeply affected my family as well as many of my patients and their families, as I'm sure it has affected many of yours. Please consider donating to this fund to help support the great research being done at BWH to advance the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of this terrible disease. Thanks!
Official Marr Fund information:
On Sunday, September 30, the Marr Fund Team of family and friends will join together to run the 2018 Maine Marathon, Half Marathon, or Marathon Relay to support the Josephine and John Marr Alzheimer’s Research Fund at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). Established by the Marr family, the fund supports a visionary Alzheimer’s research initiative aimed at ultimately preventing the disease.
Today, more than five million Americans are courageously fighting Alzheimer’s disease. But the Marr family—together with world-renowned researchers at BWH—are focused on finding a way to stop Alzheimer’s disease altogether. Backed by more than 30 years of research, BWH leaders, Drs. Dennis Selkoe and Reisa Sperling are leading and pioneering innovative approaches to advance the prevention and treatment of this devastating disease.
In just a few short years, the Marr Fund has already made a tangible impact on furthering Alzheimer’s prevention research. In fact, support from the Marr Fund has been a catalyst in allowing the research team to secure a significant $20M National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to begin a prevention trial in younger individuals.
Thank you for joining us in this fight to prevent Alzheimer’s. Together we can make a difference—now and for future generations.
