The Trenton Music Makers Orchestra Program is an intensive after-school orchestra program, operated by Trenton Music Makers in partnership with the Trenton Public Schools. The program is built on the philosophy of El Sistema, a global movement begun 40 years ago in Venezuela, which seeks to support social development through ambitious pursuit of musical excellence. Piloted with 30 children in the third and fourth grades, Trenton Music Makers is now in its fourth year of steady growth, engaging 110 children at Grant Elementary School and Dunn Middle School. The players meet for six hours a week, receiving instruction in violin, viola, cello, or bass, musicianship training and orchestral rehearsals. Its diverse team of teaching artists includes experienced string teachers, freelance musicians, young and dedicated college graduates, and music teachers hired from among the district teaching staff.
Please consider helping us purchase uniforms for our Orchestra Program students! A $10 donation will pay for a student's Trenton Music Makers t-shirt, which all kids wear on field trips! A $15 donation will pay for a white dress shirt, and a tie, which our students wear for concerts! Uniforms help our kids feel the pride of accomplishment and belonging. Will you help them show their team pride?
