This season our club is partnering with several organizations to challenge players
to raise funds for a local nonprofit organization with a very powerful and often overlooked
mission, Shadow Warriors Project.
Who’s it for?
Shadow Warriors Project is a foundation started by Mark "Oz" Geist and his
wife Krystal after Mark was injured in Benghazi on September 12, 2012. They are dedicated to
the support of the private security contractors conducting paramilitary operations in some of the
most dangerous areas of the world. It is the only charity of its kind!
Although the private security contractor has served in the military, he is considered a civilian and
therefore does not receive the same support as the injured active military or veteran. Shadow
Warriors Project serves these warriors and their families by offering financial support, getting
them the medical care they need as well as offering education assistance to the warrior and their
children. Learn more at www.shadowwarriorsproject.org.
Players will be raising funds using the CrowdRise platform, similar to
GoFundMe. The goal is for each player to raise $250.00 or more with an overall club goal of
raising $40,000. A local sponsor, 5280 Associates, will match $10,000 for a potential total of
$50,000. Players will also be challenged to participate in a service project with their team. A list
of service project ideas will be provided, along with CrowdRise instructions how to easily create
a fun and effective fundraiser.
The Grand Finale!
Players who reach the $250.00 benchmark will have the opportunity
to attend the July 22 Outlaws game along with a guest for free (additional tickets can be
purchased for $12.00) and meet Oz at a special pre-game lunch! The five players who raise the
most funds will receive a special prize pack from the Denver Outlaws.
