Hey Everyone!! I am a member of the UGA Recruitment Committee, an organization that organizes fundraisers and fun events for children who live with HIV.
Consider those closest to you: the people that would take a bullet for you or answer your phone call in the middle of the night. What if you had to hide part of yourself from them at the risk of being ridiculed or judged? This is the life that our children live daily. Their secret? Each of them is either infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. Unfortunately, their battles are not solely emotional; they're financial, too. 96 percent of our lids live under the poverty line, meaning they are unable to enjoy the parts of childhood we took for granted, like going to summer camp, or having the necessary supplies for school. This is where UGA HEROs, and you, can make an impact.
We sponsor many other programs for our kids, including our Super HEROs mentoring program, Transition to Adulthood, and the Bright HEROs scholarship. With your help, we can make a difference in the lives of these children, providing them with a loving environment and a brighter future!
