For my first marathon, I raised money for the project I was starting: Explorium - Denton Children's Museum. Thanks to numerous donations of $26.20 or more I raised about $1,000.
Starting a children's museum from scratch is no small task. It has taken over 5 years and many thousands of dollars and man-hours. We will open early next year.
I've decided to foray into the world of Ultra - an ultramarathon is basically a 50K race. Knob Hills is the goal race. It takes place on January 20. There will be a number of various distances that participatns will cover, but I will complete the 50k. If 100 people donate $50 - $1 per kilometer - together we will raise $5,000 for Explorium.
Will I win? No. Am I fast? No. Will I finish? Of course. I have never started something I can't finish. Including this museum project.
By race time our museum will be almost ready for opening, and we will need consistent revenue for operations. Guess I'll be doing a lot more running next year.
