We've all seen the news from Syria. Escalating violence is consuming the country - and children, purely the innocent bystanders, are being swept up in the violence. Tens of thousands of precious children are fleeing to the neighboring countries of Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan, many are making the terrifying journey across the water to Europe.
Through no fault of their own, these children are desperately vulnerable and in need of water, medicine and shelter. Many of these kids have witnessed their siblings and parents being hurt and injured. After seeing such horrors, some children end up withdrawn and quiet. They desperately need psychological support along with clean water, medicine and food.
UNICEF is on the ground. They are rushing to vaccinate children against life-threatening diseases, as well as to provide clean water and education. They are also there to care for children who have experienced trauma. But there is so much more to be done and it can only do it with your help.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) works in more than 190 countries and territories to put children first. UNICEF has helped save more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization, by providing health care and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more. Together, we are working toward the day when no children die from preventable causes.
