Hogar Miguel Magone is a children's home to about 125 Guatemalan children who are either victims of abuse or have incarcerated parents. Along with these live-in children, the home also helps more than 120 more children in the immediate area, providing them 3 meals a day and covering school expenses. The home is completely donation based, and receives no government funding.
January is one of the most expensive times for the home, as it marks the beginning of a new school year. Although public education in Guatemala is known to be "free", this is far from the truth. Each students must be equipped with a full uniform, 2 pairs of shoes, and all of the necessary school supplies to be able to stay enrolled in the school. For many in Guatemala, even public school is out of reach. But, with your help, we can help these students fight poverty through education! We are asking with all our hearts that you help with what you can.
Even if you can only give $1, please give it. We will put it to good use. If you want to make a big difference to one or more children, please see estimated costs below, and choose an option you are able to do. You have no idea how much you will be helping.
***Any additional, money raised will go towards purchasing shoes and school utensils for each of the children!
