Valley of the Sun Early Childhood Association was incorporated as an Arizona non-profit in 1974 with the mission of serving children, families and educators in greater Phoenix and Maricopa County. We are the Maricopa County chapter of the Arizona Association for the Education of Young Children. As a grass roots organization created by teachers for teachers, we advance a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and support all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children here in Arizona.
After decades of research we know the best environments, the best interventions and best teaching strategies for raising competent, creative and caring children. It's time to put that knowledge into action.
Your sponsorship will help us to bring Lisa Mufson Bresson to the Phoenix Valley for our annual conference of early childhood educators. Grounded in Bloom’s taxonomy , this landmark publication from NAEYC helps educators think about, organize, and apply knowledge as they step up their questioning techniques. Asking children open-ended questions is first step in higher-order thinking and creativity. When teachers model this behavior of inquiry, young children mirror and internalize these skills.
