As a member of the Armed Forces, I understand the stress that is brought on for the family members of the Service member. What many people don't understand is that the families of the Service member also sign a contract when that Service member joins the Armed Forces. The family must deal with a family member that goes into harms way to protect the way of life that we all enjoy, here in America. The family is the support network for a Service member and a big reason why they choose to serve. For these families it gets even harder for them if that Service member gives the ultimate sacrifice. The ultimate sacrifice that many other people are not willing to give and this should be honored and we should honor these families, that have given so much to the American way of Life. The pain of loss can be unbearable and it can be hard for a parent to communicate what has happened to the Service member. That is why we are fundraising for TAPS, they help families that are in need and need support after a loss of a Service Member. They have many programs for the head of the household and for kids. They bring other Gold Star families together and help them through the grieving process and offer assistance to the families. To learn more about TAPS, please visit the website www.taps.org.
