Wellness in the Schools (WITS) is a national non-profit that teaches kids healthy habits to learn and live better.
Wellness in the Schools partners with public schools to provide nutrition and fitness education, healthy scratch-cooked meals and active recess periods. Trained culinary graduates partner with cafeteria staff to feed kids real food, and fitness coaches encourage schools to let kids play. Our approach improves student outcomes and drives systemic, long-term change, shifting school cultures and ultimately fighting the childhood obesity epidemic.
- One in three children under 18 are overweight or obese
- Children spend about 12,000 hours in school between kindergarten and high school graduation
- Wellness In The Schools serves more than 60,000 children nationwide
- In the past 12 years we have cooked more than 11 million school meals and instructed more than 54,000 hours of fitness activity.
Make a difference in the lives of thousands of children by supporting WITS this holiday season as we fundraise for nutrition and fitness education and healthy food in public schools.
