This is a personal fundraiser for a worthy cause. Gilda’s Club New York City creates welcoming communities of free support for everyone living with cancer – men, women, teens and children – along with their families and friends. Our innovative program is an essential complement to medical care, providing networking and support groups, workshops, lectures and social activities, all free of charge.
I have personally met many inspiring people through Gilda's Club and through this organization am empowered to participate in this event in their honor. Gilda's club inspires me and I feel very fortunate to be able to compete in this years Power of a Woman Triathlon at the Nassau Aquatic Center in East Meadow, NY. I compete for all the survivors and fighters of cancer.
The "Power of a Woman" Triathlon will occur on Saturday April 21st and entails:
400 meters Swimming
"This year we will be swimming in the new, beautiful outdoor pool! Each athlete will start individually, 5 seconds apart. You will be swimming 8 lengths of 50 meters each. You will “snake” your way through 8 lanes (each lane will be going in only one direction). No fins, wetsuits or buoys are permitted.
BIKE- 6 Miles: (3) 2 mile loops
The bike course is a park road that will be closed to vehicle traffic for the duration of the event.
RUN-2 Miles: 1 mile out 1 mile back
The run course consists of a out and back run in the park. A water stop will be at mile 1 on the run course."
Please consider donating to this very worthy organization; a place where people can continue healing with the love and support of other survivors.
