Am a Criminology undergraduate living in Kenya. I have interests in Justice and Equality. My village town is in an arid area and i started this course not for any personal gains but to benefit my community most importantly the women and children. Women walk, as much as fifteen kilometres to fetch water under scorching sunshine and sometimes barefoot. There exist a few boreholes but dried up due to drought. Children have forgone school which is just basic because teachers cannot cope with the adverse weather conditions. Most if them end up helping the mothers at home or fathers in getting food and girls are married off to old men to earn the families some little money. This is a story that by now has reached many out there and several organizations and foundations have been started in the name of helping these families but the money contributed towards the same never reach the people at the grassroot level. Since the main problem has been water myself and a few collegues who have been lucky to get education started a group. We both undergaduates and all have a vision to help our people. We contribute money from our salary and donations from friends and our aim is to raise money to be able to buy vehicles that are mounted with tanks so that water distribution is made easier. In addition to that we have partnered with county government to educate women on alternative means of raising money such as making or ornaments and agriculture involving aloevera which is in demand for its medicinal purposes. In near future we plan to hire teachers and be able to pay them hardship allowances so that our children can have education.
My pledge out there is please donate and your donation will go into purchasing of more vehicles and mount them with tanks and also to build a school for the children. I can be contacted personally on firstname.lastname@example.org
