Carlsbad office is Walking the World for Global Genes, one of the leading rare disease patient advocacy organizations in the world.
Global Genes® is one of the leading rare disease patient advocacy organizations in the world. The non-profit organization promotes the needs of the rare disease community. What began as a grassroots movement in 2009, with just a few rare disease parent advocates and foundations has since grown to over 500 global organizations. Rare diseases affect 1 in 10 Americans, 30 million people in the United States, and 350 million people globally. Over 7,000 distinct rare diseases exist and approximately 80 percent are caused by faulty genes. The National Institutes of Health estimates that 50% of people affected by rare diseases are children, making rare diseases some of the most deadly and debilitating for children worldwide.
Every dollar donated helps eliminate the challenges of rare disease globally, by supporting educational programs, funding research and by building community outreach programs to positively impact affected patients and families
