My first introduction to the Y was in elementary school when my parents signed me up for the after school program at the Charles River YMCA. With two full time working parents I had been to my fair share of daycares, summer camps, and after school programs, but the Y was different. It was not just the few counselors who were watching over me, but the entire staff. Unlike other programs I had done, the Y became an extension of our family. A family that helped me develop into the leader I am today. A family that taught me how to persevere through challenges and follow my dreams. A family that taught me the value of kindness. A family that continues to inspire, support, and care for me every day.
I am honored to be running the Boston Marathon for the 2nd time in support of an organization that has done so much for my family and so many others. As a middle school teacher I know how important it is for teens to have access to quality programing and postive role models. By donating to the Y you are providing these opportunities to teens across Greater Boston.
As the region’s leading nonprofit the Greater Boston YMCA is committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This past summer the YMCA of Greater Boston handed out over 15,000 free 3 month memberships to teens at the 13 branches with unlimited access. Additionally, almost all teen programs that the YMCA offers are free to the community. The Y strengthens our communities, but they can’t do it without your support, which is why I ask you to consider making a donation to the YMCA of Greater Boston.
Thank you for your support!
