Just returning to York, Pa in January, returning after 22 years, I feel fortunate to live here. The recent disasters have not only put fear into me as family and friends are in the path of Hurricane Irma but I feel the strong need to bring York, Pa together and donate to relief causes. We, here, are all safe. We have homes, blankets, clothing, jobs, great schools, our vehicles, food and water, washing machines, a SHOWER. We have our own beds to sleep in. Those out west do not. Those displaced out of Houston do not. Those in Mexico do not. Those in Florida will not and from the islands, no longer. They may never return to the comfort they knew, or to what they have accumulated through their lives. The least we can do is donate our money and help our desperate fellow Americans. I think York, Pennsylvania can show that we ARE an awesome community and care about others and this is our way. Some may complain about York but we still have community, beautiful suburbs, a unique and diverse inner city, we live in a beautiful area and many of us are fortunate beyond what we can comprehend at this moment. Please donate and help the Red Cross help them. Not for me but from York County, York City, from all of us who are safe.
