On June 1, 2017, thousands of Junior Little League all-star teams across the globe had a common goal that was the unlikeliest to become true—earn a spot in the Junior World Series in Taylor, Michigan in August. Only 11 teams would realize the dream—6 international teams and 5 from the United States.
In the storied 61 year history of Encinitas Little League (ELL), dozens of championship banners had been earned, along with 2 Southern California titles, but the dream continued to be elusive until August 7. On that day, the ELL Juniors defeated Northern California Champion Oakland LL 6-0 to earn the West Region title and one of those 11 spots.
The 13 players, coaches, parents and fans have been proudly representing Encinitas in traditional ELL red all summer, and now they need even more help from the community to take on the best in the world. It is estimated that travel, food and lodging will cost each family approximately $3,000.00. ELL estimates that an additional $40,000.00 on top of what has already been generously donated will be needed to allow these great players, coaches and families to chase the dream even further.
ELL’s first World Series game is Sunday, August 13 against the Southwest Champion from Abilene, Texas, so time is short, we hope you can help.
Thank you for supporting ELL and our Western Region Juniors Champions!
