Dear Family and Friends,
I am so proud to announce that on Monday, April 16, 2018, I will be running in the 122nd annual Boston Marathon on behalf of Boston Medical Center (Team BMC).
As a safety-net hospital of Greater Boston, Funds raised by members of Team BMC will help provide high-quality, low-cost care to our patients. We are devoted to caring for all our patients’ needs, medical and otherwise, and has spent considerable time developing critical services that are not reimbursable. Your support is integral to the existence of programs and services our patients rely and thrive on, with many depending solely on philanthropic support. With your donation to Team BMC, you are showing your commitment to helping the entire city of Boston.
It truly is an honor to be able to represent this amazing institution. I would appreciate it greatly if you would make a donation to this incredible cause.

For the past 15 years, Boston Medical Center has proudly participated in Boston’s historic marathon, raising more than $4.7 million for the hospital. In 2017, BMC was fortunate to have 89 runners—a group of dedicated teammates, from New York to London to California, who pounded the pavement, crossed the finish line and helped raise more than $941,000. BMC is grateful to John Hancock Financial and the Boston Athletic Association for making Team BMC possible and for recognizing the unique role BMC plays in keeping Boston strong.
Boston Medical Center stands as Boston’s indispensable hospital and a national model for excellence in caring for the urban and working poor. We exist principally to care for any and every person who walks through our doors, and we do so with innovative treatments—many built right at BMC—and unwavering compassion provided by physicians who are leaders in their fields and highly-skilled nursing and professional staff. Striving to achieve the best possible outcome for every patient isn’t ancillary to our mission—it is our mission. As the safety-net hospital of Greater Boston, it is our duty to provide high-quality, low-cost care to our patient. BMC is devoted to caring for all our patients’ needs, medical and otherwise, and has spent considerable time developing critical services that are not reimbursable. We choose to execute these programs because they are in the best interest of our patients and provide the best possible care. Our Food Pantry is a great instance of this where we have dedicated years of providing prescription-based food to BMC families because it is an important part of a person’s overall health. As is our Emergency Department and Level 1 Trauma Center which offer outstanding, nationally-recognized care to patients from all walks of life. These comprehensive approaches are only a couple examples placing us in the position to lead the market in delivering integrated care—the future of health care.
For more than 20 years, our donors have stood by our side, helping us lead the charge in our medical and social endeavors so we can change the trajectory of our patients’ lives. Change of this magnitude is only possible when we come together, and we welcome you to join us in our pursuit. Your support is integral to the existence of programs and services our patients rely—and thrive—on, with many depending solely on philanthropic support. By donating to Team BMC you are showing your commitment to the entire city of Boston.
Thank you for supporting Boston Medical Center in our mission to provide exceptional care, without exception!
