Culinary Care was founded by Courtney White, who was a junior in highschool when she lost her father to stage IV lung cancer. Looking back on this difficult time, Courtney remembered the meals brought by family and friends. She remembered how they gave her something to look forward to during long days at the hosptial, they brought her family together each night, and they were just one less thing to worry about.
Initially, Courtney wanted to volunteer -- to help patients who may not have meals at their doorstep each night -- but what she found was surprising...there was no such organization that existed!
Can you imagine how difficult it would be to fight cancer without someone helping out with meals? For Courtney, the idea seemed impossible. There was no time to go to the grocery store, let alone prepare meals. So, she started Culinary Care to help fill this void.
Thanks to the generosity of the Newman's Own Foundation, Culinary Care, along with other charities, are being challenge to raise money for the chance to win up to $500k in grant prizes.
Every month, Culinary Care is at capacity -- unable to fulfill all the requests for meals we receive. We want everyone fighting cancer to have the warm meals they need delivered by someone who cares. With your help this holiday season, we can raise funds, awareness, and win this challenge!
Did you know? Every year, one in five cancer deaths are a direct consequence of malnutrition. Many of those we serve are often too tired to prepare meals, or they're struggling financially and unable to afford the food they need. Our mission is critical and there is no time to waste.
