Brenda is a 42 year old Guatemalan woman currently detained by ICE. She has lived in the United States since she was about 8 years old. Brenda has led a very difficult life. As a child, she was regularly beaten and was sexually abused at a young age. As an adolescent and adult, Brenda was repeatedly abused by many of her partners. Despite the hardship she has faced, Brenda is a loving mother to several United States citizen children. She is eligible to apply for a green card through her older children, and her daughter has already begun the process of petitioning for her. However, Brenda and her family cannot afford the exorbitant fees they will have to pay for Brenda's application, which may total over $3000. Many of Brenda's kids are still minors, and her older children have families of their own who they are struggling to support. Brenda's whole family is here in the United States; she has nothing to go back to in Guatemala. Seeking a green card through her children is Brenda's best chance of staying in the United States. Please consider helping her stay in the United States with her family.
