I had no idea what was in store for me my first year on the HWP team. I knew I was eventually going to have to run a half-marathon, but I had no idea how challenging that would be. Not only did it challenge me physically, but also mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I crossed the finish line with tears in my eyes because it was just so overwhelming - I had never experienced anything like what I just accomplished. Yes, I ran a long distance. But more importantly I helped bring clean water to people who have never had the privilage of having it before, and that was amazing.
