Maryville University has a long and rich history of caring for our students and alumni and for helping those in need whether they are right here in St. Louis or across this great country.
Many members of our community, along with millions of Americans, have been affected by the destruction of Hurricane Harvey. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes, many of them having lost everything. The images we’ve all seen on TV have been heartbreaking.
We’ve also seen the very best of America in the rescue and relief efforts – strangers reaching out with their time, their talents, and their donations to help those in need. The Maryville community wants to do our part, so here’s what we’re going to do.
I am committing $1,000 to the American Red Cross, and I’m challenging the Maryville community – our students, faculty, staff, and alumni – to match that donation. Once my donation is matched, the university will match that total of $2,000 to reach our goal of $4,000.
To those students and alumni affected by Harvey, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, your neighbors, and your family and friends as you work to rebuild. We’re humbled by your courage and fortitude. Please share your story with us and how we and others might help you.
Thank you to all of Saints Nation.
