Please help us to raise the last $10,000 of our $25,000 goal!
The Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation in partnership with Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Kokua 4 Kokonuts fundraising walk, supporting the MMMC Foundation’s Breast Cancer Screening Program. The Breast Cancer incidence rate is higher in Maui County than any other neighbor island. This year we are raising funds to purchase a Faxitron Surgical Imaging System for the hospital’s Operating Room. This equipment is specifically used for breast cancer, and determines if enough tissue has been removed during a biopsy. Currently, surgeons have to wait for Radiology to look at biopsied tissue while a patient remains under anesthesia. This equipment will save time in the OR, allowing more patients to be seen, improves safety by allowing patients to be under anestheia for less time, and eliminates the need for additional surgeries because all the tissue was not removed the first time.
