What would it take for me to actually invest in good running shoes, hit the gym, and wake up at the crack of dawn on an October morning to run a 5K? Why, my beloved Frida Cinema, of course!
On Saturday, October 21, I will be running the Santa Ana 5K in support of The Frida Cinema, the non-profit independent art house cinema I opened in February, 2014. Initially a home for first-run independent films, The Frida has evolved into Orange County's Year-Round Film Festival, a home for cinephiles that showcases up to 30 titles a month, with first-run indies complemented by remastered classics, student films, community fundraisers and mixers, concerts, art shows, and free outdoor film screenings. As our selection of titles, genres, and film series has expanded, so has our audience, and we are so blessed to meet new friends from throughout Southern California on a daily basis who have made The Frida Cinema their home for quality and diverse cinema. Our aim to is to keep pushing the boundaries of our cinematic and live event programming, further cementing The Frida's reputation as THE place for lovers of cinema in Southern California.
As the founder of The Frida Cinema, I am prepared to push my body to its ultimate limits, participating in this treacherous, physically and mentally exahusting...light jog...to earn your support! Your belief in my work - and subsequent donation - is integral to keeping our doors open, and our screens lit with wonderful, diverse, and unforgettable films and memories.
